CRUST:

1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup white sugar
1  cup all purpose flour

FILLING:

3 pears (preferably Barlett or Bosc pears)
2 apples
4 ounces cream cheese
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs
3/4 cup of milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cinammon
1/4 cup of slivered almonds

METHOD:

1 ---For the shortbread crust - cream butter and sugar together until light.  Beat in the flour. Pat into bottom and up the sides of a 10 inch pie dish.

2 ---Peel , halve and core pears and apples and slice .  Mix together and put in pie shell, piling it a little higher in the centre.

3 ---Cream cheese until smooth and then beat in sugar.  Add eggs one at a time, beating mixture smooth after each addition. Add Milk and vanilla.  Pour over the fruit. Sprinkle with almonds and cinammon.

4 ---Place in a preheated 425 degree oven and bake for 10 minutes THEN reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for another 35 to 40 minutes or until custard is set in the middle.   Serve warm or cold .
